Wow, I've never been called a Thinker! I guess a little bit of thinking is needed to blog. Mostly I have to think about the code all the dots and brackets and slashes! Sometimes, well a lot of times, they confuse me :)

Another Dog Saved by Marilyn's Voice!

Meet Dale.
He was in the same kill pound/Shelter as Rocky.
He could not be released in time for me to board both of them (I was about 60 miles from home on a Saturday and the kennel would close) so a couple of nice folks helped and I went and got him today.

We had a nice, normal drive home :)

Hey Lady! Is this too close for you to drive? Where're we going?
Can you see how to drive if I stay here? I sure am glad to be out of that place I was in last week....I heard them say 'His time is up' but a very nice rescue group, Marilyn's Voice saved me and Rocky!






Look! The Lady got a turtle off the road. I like it! The Lady said 'No!' and put him in her lap. It wee-wee'd on her, but she said that happens just about efury time she picks one up off the road. She's a crazy turtle lady.

I'm not nearly as big as Rocky. He was right up in the windshield.

He must have weighed about a thousand pounds!







Goats! Hey Lady! Can I play with them?
They are afraid of me because I look just like one of the d*gs that chased them and made them sick. Patrick got the worse of it.





We let the turtle go waaay back there behind the goats.
It will have lots of company. The Lady has been putting highway turtles down there for 20 years!

There are lots of trees and a creek. I still want to eat it.

In honor of Veterans Day
this is our Granddaddy-bean in 1942.

He served in France. We wonder if any of the men he
served with are still here. He is last on the right, next
to the visitor, The Phillip Morris man. Mom wishes he
had never started with those cigarettes, as they helped
take his life with emphysema and lung cancer in 1999.
Many of us Bunch knew him, even Bob and Patrick! He and
Mom looked at different goat farms to find just
the right goats for us. Mom misses him a very much.
We honor all our military and hold them in our
hearts and prayers.

These were some of my Easter bunnies at my booth. I noticed yesterday some of them have been sold. I hope they look nice in their new homes :)
As far as Spring....It's going to be in the 20's here, so will probably bring the goats into the basement since they have been shedding their winter coats for several weeks.

Dogs In With My Goats!

The neighbor dogs can escape from their fence and now they have come into my Boyz fence twice.

There is a small brick ledge on the house that they can jump on to keep the dogs from getting them , but I fear that one day they may not can make it to that little ledge. Their area is large and if they don't know the dogs are in, would they be able to get to safety?

They are already off their feed, and their bowel movements have changed. They are living scared, and I just don't want that. I am putting them in the basement at night, which leads to a clean up every day, rather than just with bad weather or fireworks.

This has brought me to making a decision about re-homing Patrick and Bob or hoping that the dogs won't get out of their fence again. I don't think I can secure my fence anymore than it already is, as I have no help here.

Not a happy camper.

I put them in the basement with feed, fresh hay and water for the night.
Bob is on the left..neither of them like the camera flash.

Tomorrow I'll sweep and sweep :)

Goats Doing Better!

Someone asked about Bob and Patrick, so I decided to take them outside their yard for a little walk around. They wouldn't leave the edge of their fence for quiet a while, but nibbled the grass right outside.
Their feet have healed and Patrick (in front) is walking much better.

They are still very afraid/nervous/alert as this picture shows.
The dogs bark at them, but so far they've not gotten back into their yard.

Goats Need Vet Care

The dogs got in for a third time. Patrick got the worse of it. There are no puncture wounds, as both of the Boyz were able to get up on a four inch ledge all three (so far) times. I don't know how long they had to stand there each time but this time he is limping.

Unfortunately, both of them have bruised pads, and Patrick has gone lame in front left leg. Doctor said he has some arthritis, but he has never limped before this. His feet were bruised so bad, she wrapped them with medicine inside the bandages. He didn't care for the back one, but kept the front one on, as he couldn't get to it. My daughter and I managed to get it off yesterday.

He and Bob spent the night in the basement, but he wanted out (tries real hard to turn that door knob!) I let him out the next day, Tuesday, but he is not better today, Thursday. Hopefully he will start using his leg, if he doesn't he will never be able to escape the dogs, and my son and I reinforced my fence as well as we could.

I'm very concerned about him. I'm very scared for both of them.

I can't let them be together, as Bob wants to play and Patrick definitely does not!

Goats ask to go inside?

The Boyz have their winter coats, but they'd still like to
get into the basement. I have a hard time remembering that
they are farm animals and worry about them getting cold!
