Photo Hunt ~ Undesirable

Think occasionally of the suffering
of which you spare yourself the sight.
-Albert Schweitzer-

The Photo Hunt theme today is
UNDESIRABLE
We think puppy mills are one of the most
UNDESIRABLE
things we can think of.
Thankfully, our friends at Marilyn's Voice

rescue and rehabilitate as many of these dogs
that they can. It is hard work and expensive work.
Their organization is named after a puppy mill
dog they rescued. Her vocal cords were cut so she
could not bark at the mill, sadly this is common.

Maybe we can help a little..

Ever occur to you why some of us can be this
much concerned with animals suffering?
Because government is not.
Why not? Animals don't vote.

One of our favorite sites is
Marilyn's Voice

Their mission:
To stop the puppy mill industry in Ohio by raising public
awareness through education, outreach, protests and
events; to help individuals differentiate irresponsible
from responsible breeders; and to promote the adoption
of pets through shelters and rescue groups.

I believe they could use some help right now with
Kelly, a puppy mill dog with severe jaw problems.
Her story is on their website.
Thanks for visiting!

PUPPY MILLS - Oprah Friday April 4th

Never doubt that a small group of concerned citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
-Margaret Mead-

Lisa Ling will be on Oprah's show Friday. She will discuss Puppy Mills.

These photos are from Marilyn's Voice who are great defenders of these dogs and puppies, and have saved many.
Please set your recording devices if you cannot watch
Typical housing at puppy mill (below)

Many people that do not know about the horror and tragedy of puppy mills will be able to see where that cute little pup at the pet store came from.

Lacey (right) was rescued!

Oprah will dedicate her show to her Sophie,
who lost her battle with kidney disease.

Rest In Peace, Marilyn

Marilyn's Voice

The precious little rescued puppy mill dog, Marilyn, has died. Her owner did everything she could when Marilyn collapsed.
She was only five years old, and had been bred from the age of six months. Being only three pounds, her pups died before being born.

The breeder cut her vocal cords because she asked for attention. She never made another sound. Of course being in a puppy mill, she never received medical or dental attention, and her teeth rotted.

Being worthless to the puppy mill breeder, she was stuffed into a bag with other dogs. Thankfully her Mommy was able to buy them. She made Marilyn the spokespup for an organization that saves puppy mill dogs!

They also help other dogs, if you remember Rocky and Baxter?

She collapsed yesterday at her Mommy's home and died. Her trachea had collapsed.
