Anyone Want A KITTEN?

~ Every year millions of healthy cats and dogs are killed
in shelters and pounds in America.

An unaltered pair of cats and their offspring could produce
420,000 kittens in seven years.

A female dog and her offspring, over 67,000 puppies.

Please spay or neuter your family pet,
let's have no more homeless animals ~

I'm not giving kittens away! Miss Emily and Sara have been a part of my family over ten years.

My heading today is mostly anger at people that let their cats keep having kittens, over and over.

As some of you know, I go to tag/yard/estate sales. I found a nice little cat bed at one this weekend and mentioned I had cats. The woman asked me if I wanted some kittens. Being on a very limited income, I had to refuse. She said she had *two* cats with kittens. She had 12 kittens.

After telling her I could not possibly take any more cats, I told her to be sure to get her cats spayed as soon as possible. She looked at me like my head had just come off my shoulders and bounced over the house and back to my shoulders. She has no intention of spaying her cats.

More cats in shelters, more cats in pounds, more cats on the street to die untimely deaths, more cats to make more cats.

I know I'm preaching mostly to the choir, but at least I got it out of my system, until next weekend.

  1. Thanks for helping to spread the spay/neuter message. The number of homeless pets is heartbreaking.

  2. I couldn't agree more - people need to realize that adopting an animal is a responsibility and having them spayed or neutered is so important!

  3. I wish she lived close to me. I'd offer to take ALL the cats off her hands and get them into foster homes then get every spayed/neutered and adopted through the shelter I volunteer with. It kills me to know people are so irresponsible with their pets.

  4. I wish there was a shelter around here that would help! All we have is AC, and they gas.

I guess it's too much to think that people would be responsible.

As I was driving away from that street, I passed two cats making more kittens.

It's a sad, sad situation all the way around.

  5. So sad. :( Many areas have low-cost spay/neuter programs, so it's not like it costs a lot of money.

All the homeless pets out there is just heartbreaking. I wish we could adopt one or two, but my dad is allergic to cats, and can only tolerate Sphynx. Over here in Germany, Sphynx just don't end up in shelters. If we were in the U.S., we could adopt from the Sphynx rescue, but that just doesn't exist here in Germany.

I hope all those poor kittens find good Forever Homes.

  6. We agree. And the bad part is that those stupid humans are also reproducing and passing on their uneducated, idiotic ways to their offspring and the problem grows.

  7. I do wish more people would spay their animals. It is such a small thing to do to keep poor little kittens out of shelters.
