Photo Hunters - Empty

~ Over increasingly large areas of the United States, spring now comes unheralded by the return of the birds, and the early mornings are strangely silent where once they were filled with the beauty of bird song ~
-- Rachel L. Carson --

Empty?
House Wren nest in a basket on my carport.
Don't know if they got the fur lying on the ground
or
off my goat, Patrick :)

  3. What a pretty little nest! I'll bet the fur came from Patrick. But Patrick looks very nice, I'll bet he was happy to donate some of his furs for the birds.

    Right, Patrick?

  4. It always amazes me the places birds find to make nests:-) It's also funny to see what they USE to make their nest...dog hair, human hair, string, etc...and now I see even goat hair! lol Great picture for this weeks' theme! Mine is up too:-)

  9. I'm imagining the birds swooping down and grabbing a hair off Patrick -- gone before he can even react -- and he would have an endless supply of soft, warm nest lining for them. Great take on the theme!

  12. Our yard is filled with chickadees. The cats are more interested in hunting voles. Now I need a goat.

  15. Is this a nest they have just built and are planning to use? How lovely... but poor Patrick... having hair plucked from your head... he is probably most annoyed.
    Thanks for the visit.

  17. I bet goat hair makes for a soft nest....do the birds dive bomb him or use fur that has already been shredded?

  18. That's a great interpretation. We had a bird build a nest and lay eggs next to our house one spring and it was a wonderful adventure for our whole family to watch the eggs hatch.

  28. I thought about posting an empty nest as well, but I used it for a different theme. My friend has a nest made out of fur from her horses.

  31. It's a wonderful photo and commentary. I read a book about ravens and they will pull fur off of living animals! Not often, but it has been observed. So perhaps they did!
