Happy New Year To All

~ Here's to the bright New Year, and a fond farewell to the old;
here's to the things that are yet to come,
and to the memories that we hold ~

Where's Timothy?

~ The fellow who worries about what people think of him
wouldn't worry so much if he only knew how seldom they do ~

After scooping and refilling litter boxes, Timothy decided that the empty bucket would make a nice hiding place.
Anna Sue looked behind her and was surprised to see him there. Bandit is just waiting for him to come out so he can go in!

Update on my Boyz: They stood on the brick ledge until midnight, when I finally let them in the basement. They need to sleep so they can be alert during the day. I've tried to block the fence where the dogs get in. So far, so good.

Dogs In With My Goats!

The neighbor dogs can escape from their fence and now they have come into my Boyz fence twice.

There is a small brick ledge on the house that they can jump on to keep the dogs from getting them , but I fear that one day they may not can make it to that little ledge. Their area is large and if they don't know the dogs are in, would they be able to get to safety?

They are already off their feed, and their bowel movements have changed. They are living scared, and I just don't want that. I am putting them in the basement at night, which leads to a clean up every day, rather than just with bad weather or fireworks.

This has brought me to making a decision about re-homing Patrick and Bob or hoping that the dogs won't get out of their fence again. I don't think I can secure my fence anymore than it already is, as I have no help here.

Lisaviolet's Tummy Tuesday!

~ Everything a cat is and does physically, is to me -
beautiful, lovely, stimulating, soothing, attractive and an enchantment ~
Paul Gallico

Today for Lisaviolet's Tummy Tuesday we have Miss Emily! She and her sisfur, Sara, were in a box in front of Walmart. Telling myself to *not* look in the box, I looked in the box and got myself two beautiful kittens. I have been delighted every day that I looked, because this little solid white cat is such a lady. I call her my Beauty Queen because she is indeed beautiful and such a sweet girl. Yes, I'm glad I looked in that box!

Cat Whiskers!

~ Cats’ whiskers are so sensitive....
they can find their way through the narrowest crack in a broken heart

This is Anna Sue and her Whiskers. I admit cat whiskers are one of my favorite parts of the beautiful creature known as a Cat.
Not just for decoration, they provide sensor, show emotions and help to trap prey. About the only prey my cats find is an occasional fly or cricket or candle fly, the latter two I will do my best to release outside, which does not set well with the cats :-)

A Sad Day

How strange that I had been thinking of Gracie's mother cat, Fluffy, when today I learned that she died yesterday.

She was an outside cat, and it's not known what happened, but her little body was found in the nearby woods. I want to think that she just went into the woods and died peacefully. That's what I want to think.

She was a beautiful light grey and white foofy cat. I hope she didn't suffer. *tears*

Soar high among the clouds with your new Angel Wings sweet Fluffy Girl.

I am reminded of a poem that my friend, Trish Blassengame wrote, and am putting a link to it HERE with her permission.

Wordless Wednesday

~ Cats are connoisseurs of comfort ~ James Herriot

Lucky and Dingo

~ Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of their universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal man has ever made.~ Roger Caras

I had the opportunity to feed my neighbors dogs for a few days while they went on vacation.
Lucky was found on at a dump sleeping inside a tire. She's been with my neighbor for about seven years now. When she gets excited she runs in circle. We wonder if it's because when she was abandoned, she slept in the tire.
It was hard to get a picture of her without one of her tennis balls. Hopefully next time I play with them Dingo will be still long enough to snap her picture!

I Got A Wolf for Christmas!

~ Wolves are not our brothers;
they are not our subordinates, either.
They are another nation, caught up just like us
in the complex web of time and life. ~
Henry Beston

In memory of my Holly Belle dog that went to the Rainbow Bridge June 13th of this year, my friend Sheryl adopted a wolf for me. I will keep my Certificate of Adoption near Holly's urn.
I've always wanted to help the wolves!
Thank you, Sheryl!!

~ Just received an email from my cousin with this Cherokee Wisdom: (Thanks, Dar!)

Two Wolves
~One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.
~One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, resentment inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.
~The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
~The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf wins?"
~The old Cherokee simply replied...
"The one you feed."

Puppy torture case

The two brothers accused of animal cruelty have been found not guilty on one count while the jury was hung on 10 other felony counts. There was one holdout. Prosecutors say Justin Moulder and his brother Joshua tortured and baked a puppy to death in August and showed the dead animal to neighborhood children.

At least there will be another trial in January.

Wordless Wednesday .. My first!

Live camera in Africa. Watch the animals..

~ If all the beasts were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to the man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the sons of the Earth ~
Chief Seattle of the Suwamish Tribe

A great advantage of the Internet is being able to see images from far away as they happen. I'm on some great message boards, mostly about cats *grin* and this camera in Africa was posted. It's fun to listen and watch.
Nkorho Pan is a natural water hole in the prestigious Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, in South Africa.

OK, I know what you are thinking, the Baby Seal and a post about Africa??
I love the Baby Seal picture, and it does go perfectly with my quote today!

Tummy Tuesday

~ If a man could be crossed with the cat,
it would improve man,
but it would deteriorate the cat ~

Sometimes you just have to let it out..

~ A cat has absolute emotionial honesty:
human beings, for one reason or another,
may hide their feelings, but a cat does not~

Georgia sometimes feels it's necessary to tell
her brofur, Napoleon to 'Back off!'
He, being one of the most gentle cats I've ever known, complies!

For Tummy Tuesday, Bandit shows us a tiny peek ..

~Never try to outstubborn a cat~

Some days I really can't outstubborn my cats for a picture.
Today Bandit gives us a tiny Tummy to share
at Lisaviolet's Tummy Tuesday!
Her Rachel is stunning!

Dog tunnels through snow to save owners

~He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion~

Good job, Shana!

Goats ask to go inside?

The Boyz have their winter coats, but they'd still like to
get into the basement. I have a hard time remembering that
they are farm animals and worry about them getting cold!

Bob

~Animals are such agreeable friends,
they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms~
Patrick

Will I resist those little faces and let them in?
See how I acquired Such Spoiled Boyz!

Man gets 20 years after burning dog to death

~ Do not believe that possibly you can escape
the reward of your action
~
r.w.emerson

It's almost impossible for me to believe that there are people that can do this to an innocent creature. The two young men that cooked a dog mentioned below in my blog will go on trial this Tuesday. I sincerely hope their sentence will be at least 20 years each.

That Gracie is feeling better!

~ You can leave a will directing how to handle your money,
but not your reputation. The public will attend to that ~

She had a couple of days of not eating or drinking, but everything checked out OK at the vet. Sure do wish they could tell us what's wrong! She's back to her bossy self, hope she stays that way.
