Photo Hunt ~ Road

On the road again, goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again..
In the early '80's my bean sister tried out to be a clown with
Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus.
At that time, hundreds of people went to the auditions all over the country, but very few were chosen to go to their 'Clown College' in Florida. She was one of the lucky ones (at that time) to attend and one of the few chosen to go on the ROAD with them. She was on the Red Unit and lived full time on the train. Gunther called her 'Clownie' and was always so nice to her.
When in Atlanta, all the clowns would come to our house and spend the night. We had a big breakfast the next morning and sent them on their way. They were all a lot of fun and of course had outstanding personalities. Below is a picture of her with our Rainbow Angels, Mr. Nicholas and Georgia. I am also there in the middle!! She enjoyed her years with them, but Momma was glad to have her stay home and begin a somewhat normal life.
The tabby is my brofur Mr. Nicholas, and on the other side of me is
my sisfur, Georgia. They are Rainbow Angels and we miss them so.

  5. wow that's really cool! Sister says she saw that circus a few times back when she lived in Jersey. Her dad would take her when she was just a kid- so back in the 80s! Maybe she saw your sister!

Clowning is hard. I only took one class in graduate school and it was one of the most difficult things I've ever done. Kudos to your sister for following a dream and running away to join the circus! This is a great response to the theme.

Thanks for commenting on my entry this morning.

  7. Gosh! That is amazing to have been chosen like that. For sure it has to be harder than American Idol too. We like it and think y our bean's sis is cute, especially her 'lashes. We are not telling our mom about it because she has one of those weird clown fears.

  18. Now that is a road story. You always hear about people running away with the circus. I guess she really did. I'm glad she was a happy clown --- I think clowns should be happy. :)

  22. That's awesome. What a carefree life. Have you ever read the book "Water For Elephants?" It's about circus life.

Thanks for stopping by. I don't like going over bridges like the one in the photo I posted. I'm afraid of heights :(
