Photo Hunt - What Is That?

If all mankind were to disappear, the world would regenerate back
to the rich state of equilibrium that existed ten thousand years ago.
If insects were to vanish, the environment would collapse into chaos.
-Edward O. Wilson-

Today's Photo Hunt is 'What Is that?'
This beautiful moth was on my truck in 2004. That is a quarter on the left.
I featured it on another meme, but this is the first on PH.
I can clearly see a face, do you?
For a larger and also a different view you can go to my website:

  1. Wow, that's a really purrty moth. But he better not come around us kitties or he'll be smaller than the quarter.

  2. All we can say is WOW! That is an absolutely huge, awesome and beautiful moth, especially seeing the larger pictures on your other bloggy. Seeing his little head and feets in the larger picture is amazing! And the face is so well defined that it is almost scary ... hee hee! Again, WOW!! Have a Happy Saturday!

I love moths!! I think they are my favorite insect. The cats aren't allowed to touch any that come inside. They get yelled at if they try to hunt them. :)

  19. That false face loooking back at you is its protection. To a hungry bird, it looks like jsut that--a face. And with a face like that glaring at you, you would look for dinner elsewhere, too.

    I see a moth- a HUGE one!

The amazing thing is I see THE face too- an almost sad one of a mustached man- and at further inspection, the eyes, nose and (even with tiny teeth) mouth is all clear! If you may, hair in dreadlocks too! Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

    That is almost chilling...

Thanks for stopping over at my site! Cheers. :-)
