Remembering Georgia 1992 - April 30, 2007

It's funny how dogs and cats know the inside of folks
better than other folks do, isn't it?
- Eleanor H. Porter -

We are remembering our little Georgia today.
She had to go to The Rainbow Bridge on April 30, 2007.
She was Napoleons sister, and we miss her so much.
We are also thinking of the many, many furriends we
have that are at The Bridge with our brofurs Mr. Nicholas,
Bandit, KittyBoy, Shay and our sweet sisfur Sara and
of course our Woofer, Holly Belle Asbell.
Wait for us sweet ones, we will see you again.

The hundreds that are suffering from the terrible storms are in our thoughts. We are keeping you in our prayers as you start rebuilding your lives. Our sympathies go to the families and friends that lost loved ones this week.

A follow-up of the eaglets: They are now in a man made nest at the Wildlife Center. There is a camera on them, it is a temporary one as there was a rush to get one installed so all of the Aunties and Uncles could watch our babies! There will be a clearer picture as the center improves wiring and cameras . The side bar chat is a great place to learn everything you want to know about the eaglets and Dad Eagle.
Dad Eagle has been seen at the Norfolk Botanical Garden in some of his favorite trees. Anything you would like to know can be found here, great info and moderators:

Hope we all have a peaceful and happy weekend!

Flying With Eagles

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run,
and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint
- Isaiah 40:31 -
I've been watching a beautiful pair of eagles for quiet a while. I watched Mom Eagle lay her second egg. She had a hard time with that one! Dad Eagle was close by, and brought her a fish after the egg was with the first one in the massive nest. He was so good to her, so kind and gentle. Another egg was to come for a grand total of three.
The nest is in the Norfolk Botanical Gardens.

Great parents, and they have been together since 2003 in the garden.

On Tuesday this week, April 26th Mom and Dad were hunting together. Mom was carrying a fish when she was struck and killed by the landing gear of an airplane. Dad came back at least three times to feed his eaglets....

After much, much discussion it was decided by the people that know best (and there are many of them that do indeed know all about eagles) that the eaglets should be removed from the nest and taken to theWildlife Center of VA.
Click above for a complete transcript of reasons for removing eaglets.
You may also want to 'LIKE' the Wildlife Center on Facebook!
Julian was so gentle with them.

Dad came back a few times and searched for his family.
The last few days my heart has been repeatably broken.

Soar High on Angel Wings Momma Eagle,
and watch over your babies from above.

It has been said that Dad Eagle will find a new mate and possibly return to the gardens next year. We are thankful that we had the opportunity to meet this little family, and wish him the best. The Gardens have a facebook page HERE

After the eagles were removed, Dad brought another fish to the nest, and searched over the edge, looked above, listened, walked around on the nest then left the fish.
Later, he came back again. I found this video of Dad on YouTube:

Sweet Praline, Until We Meet Again RIP

Soar High Sweet Praline

We will see you on the other side.
~ The Bunch and Mom Bobbie
~
And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

Thankful Thursday - Malachi

Use the talents you possess -
for the woods would be a very silent place if
no birds sang except for the best.
- Henry Van Dyke - -Furriends and beans, this is what Malachi watches. He is thankful that he has Birdy TV.
For many years we have had birds build here in our carport, next to the door. There are three places in this shelf that have a nest. We do not clean them out, because the birds come back!. We hope the neighbor cat will not eat the baby birds. He stays on the driveway or in the carport. We try to watch and politely ask him to go home, but we cannot watch all the time. Keep your fingers and paws crossed that the babies will make it out. The Mom and Dad are feeding right now. We had a snake one year. She ate the baby birds. We were very sad. We have fixed the shelf so the snake cannot climb up there anymore...but cats can jump, which we worry about. (None of us are allowed owtside, so we will not eat the baby birds.)

We will put a photo of the snake below. At the time it was taken, there were patterns in the shelf. After Mom took the picture, she pulled the snake down, it had already eaten the little bitty baby birds (it would not hurt her, it is a Black Snake) and tried to catch her to take her to the woods, but Ms. Snake was able to get into a hole at the end of the carport. Mom let her go because she really did not want to hurt her, she just wanted to make her go live somewhere else!

If you do not like to see pictures of snakes, you can sign off now.

Hope you have a great Thursday!

Wordless Wednesday ~ Malachi

Why do birds sing in the morning?
It's the triumphant shout:

Wordless Wednesday - Noah

As anyone who has ever been around a cat
for any length of time
well knows cats have enormous patience
with the limitations of the human kind.

Sitting and Thinking - Miss Emily

Never be afraid to sit awhile and think.
- Lorraine Hansberry - _
We have not had much time to sit and think. A big storm, a flooded basement, no electricity! We are surprised at how much electricity Mom uses. At least she got to read for a long time. The computer came back again, and it really seems to be fixed this time. We are keeping all our paws crossed.
Hope every one has a really great weekend. Mom is going to spend time with Bob and Patrick. They do not seem to clean up after themselves, so she and our bean-brother will be busy today. Maybe they will take some pictures of those handsome Boyz!
